Video Tip: 3 Things to Focus on During the Coronavirus Quarantine

What you can do during this "downtime"

Coronavirus is seriously wreaking havoc on businesses, but most importantly I hope you all stay safe and care for your loved ones who need you. Now, there are two ways to look at this situation: one, we’re all going to die - in which case nothing matters anyway; or two, this will eventually pass and we’ll need to get back at it.

So I’m asking you to get in the mindset of focusing on what you can do while this is happening. How can you come out better on the other side? Here are three things that I am going to focus on and three things that I think will help you too:

First, focus on your systems. I’m sure there is a project or two, or nine, that you have kept on the back burner. You want to do it, but you’ve been so busy. Use this slowdown to attack those projects and make them happen. Update your processes, tweak your systems, improve your email templates and sequences. Whatever it is, take this time to improve the foundation of your business and you’ll come out better on the other end.

Second, something that is always important but easier to do now: improve yourself. Read great books that are applicable to your role, listen to a quality podcast, follow some blogs, or work with a sales coach to hone your craft. I know there have been several founders and sales reps getting in touch with me to do just this - in fact we’re adding an extra cohort which is starting soon so let me know if you would like to join and get yourself in great sales shape.

And third, focus on your relationships. With this extra time, you get a chance to deepen your bond with your spouse or significant other, you can spend quality time with your kids, or call your parents. Even call that old buddy you haven’t spoken to in a while to check in. Use this as an opportunity to strengthen these relationships, and your spirit will be in great shape when this mess is over.
